Our first big day of high class shopping (or should I say spending...). Thankfully [for my wallet], I didn’t purchase anything. Good thing I have two big sisters to make up for what I can't spend! And that they did... We made our way to Shi-boots again, where we hit up Shibuya 109. This place was full of funky shops and weird displays.
Rochie bought some Clark Kent-like glasses that began her revolutionizing style change and then we made our way over to L’Occitane Café.
This restaurant was famously used in the Ryuusei no Kizuna drama that Erin and I watched. Erin’s future love - err... favorite actor…had filmed some episodes for the show in this café, so we had to capture this opportunity and take part in history! The prices were reasonable and the food was delicious. My first experience eating cold soup… umm… I guess it was good(?) Probably better if it was warm though... Seriously, I was kind of tempted to ask if there was a microwave around... However, there was already a long list of things that Erin was teaching me that are common practice in North America, but shunned in Japan; therefore, I kept my mouth shut.
I guess I should've noticed that there was no steam rising from it when I took my first spoonful...
The scramble crossing is pretty un-eventful during the day
We wandered the streets of Shiboots and found a delicious crepe shop where I convinced the man working that I spoke Japanese! How delightful. All you gotta do is order your food in Japanese (easiest Japanese ever) and they’re convinced! Hah… unfortunately, he couldn’t be farther off. I still constantly struggle to understand what people are saying to me, but that’s another story we’ll save for another day…
Then, we made a trip to Comme Des Garcon where Erin made a purchase (little did we know, it would be first of many CDG trips). We looked through a few more shops and made our way to an interestingly decorated store called Opening Ceremony. Rochelle bought a sweet cape/hoodie thing. It's pretty sweet. Alexander Wang – no big deal… I shop with sisters who dress in style! Unfortunately for me, my no-income student status (usually) refrains me from splurging on designer goods.
I'm not sure why I never took a picture of the cape... I already had my camera out. My bad...
I really don't understand why the cubic mouth stuff is so popular out here. It really creeped me out at first, but it's pretty sweet, don't ya think?
Later on in the night, I found out that my friend had found a job for me to teach English in Shinjuku… I was so excited! ...Until I found out 2 weeks later from my school that I can't legally work here. Shucks for me. Haven’t they heard of a little term called “under the table” payments? Haha, kidding…
Eventually, we wandered our way over to some westernized restaurant where we had pasta soup. What an interesting idea, but it was delicious, nonetheless. We found a purikura machine where we took the first of many purikura shots. Then, we made our way to Shinjuku station where we got a little lost and thought that Rochelle might fall over and die because she had a massive migraine and wasn't looking too good... But she lived! The end.
