Raining Men

After a long day of birthday shindigs the day before, we got to experience a lovely – err… wet day at Disney Sea. I guess it IS Disney Sea, right? Gotta experience some sea-ness. And that we did. What we thought would be a light rainy morning turned into a full day of being soaked from head to toe (okay… maybe that’s a bit of an exaggeration, but you get the picture), along with experiencing my first typhoon! I left the house without an umbrella, but both sisters appeared to be so shocked that I accepted Ro’s offer of a poncho (which in truth was a plastic bag with some holes for a head and two arms)…

DisneySea consisted of a whole lot of people… and a whole lot of couples. I want a cute Asian boy to take me to Disney too! Oh, where can I find one… If anyone can figure that out, please let me know, as I would like to have one. Please and thank you. Anyways, back to Disney – So it was raining men, [hallelujah] (hah… no really, I wish), but no matter how hard it rained, it didn’t seem that anyone took a break from the lines or decided to go home! I was amazed with their relentlessness. Later I would find that the norm of avoiding long lineups (in Canada) is not a common practice in Japan...

Then, during lunch time, we got to witness a parents negligence resulting in a toddler peeing on a bench in a cafeteria. What a sight to see. In Japan, it’s not uncommon to see children of a young age wandering around without their parents. However, the crime rates are way lower here, so most people don't seem to worry about their children getting kidnapped and whatnot (I’m guessing, I don’t actually know). So anyways, as this toddler’s sister ran to get her parents, they came about a minute too late to find their little baby crying up a storm. Not the kind of sight you get to see everyday… I couldn’t stop staring! I’m terrible, ね? Taking joy out of this kid’s traumatizing experience. Okay, it probably wasn’t that traumatizing… her father swiftly wiped up the bench mess with a towel they had handy and they resumed with their meal.

By the end of the day, we all had sore feet beyond what was thought humanly possible. However, it appeared that Japan had already and would continue to give us uncomfortable situations to endure, as nature decided to have it’s way with us. So as Erin whined the whole way home, we trottled along to finish our day at Maruetsu where I discovered my new soon-to-be boyfriend…

  1. YOU MUST OBEY SHIRIKI UTUNDU.
Also, yeah, my feet were soaking inside my shoes which STILL stink, ps. So, I thought they were going to fall off and die. It's reasonable.
